Predator Quartermaster

Project Description:

Predator Quartermaster is a dedicated accessory control software developed by Acer specifically for esports gamers. With Predator Quartermaster, you can customize the keyboard and mouse lighting, key parameters, and macros, tailoring them to individual users and games. The software automatically switches to the game-specific settings when it detects a game being launched, making the controls more intuitive and player-centric. The user-friendly interface enhances the gaming control capabilities. Predator Quartermaster has been highly praised by numerous review media as the best gaming accessory application.

My Role and Responsibilities:

Predator Quartermaster is one of the projects I redefined based on identified needs. Initially, it was intended to develop a simple program for customizing lighting and key settings for the Cestus mouse, following the approach of other accessory vendors. However, after reviewing the specs, I realized that for gaming accessories to become a complete product line, a long-term plan was necessary. Thus, with the support of the Design Center, I coordinated with the product manager and the newly established accessory department to discuss developing an app that would strategically support future devices.

To begin, we conducted interviews with esports players to understand their needs and the persistent pain points that had not been addressed. Subsequently, we held workshops with the product manager and industrial designers to identify standout features and the level of customization possible. We then created scenario descriptions and workflow diagrams, which the product manager used to modify the specs. Once the interactive features were finalized, we proceeded with the visual design.

This project was a collaborative effort where I strived to meet market demands and enhance user experience. I am proud of the final outcome achieved by the team.
